# Recognise phishing emails pretending to be HostCloud

> Spot fake emails, calls and messages that use HostCloud's name to steal your login or money.

Scammers sometimes send emails, texts or WhatsApp messages pretending to be from HostCloud, to trick you into giving away your password or paying a fake invoice. This guide shows you how to spot them and what to do.

## What HostCloud will never do

* **Never ask for your password, card details or an OTP** by email, phone, chat or WhatsApp.
* **Never change our bank details** by email, phone or WhatsApp. If you're asked to pay a different account, it's a scam.
* **Never threaten** to delete your website within hours unless you click a link.

## Warning signs

| Sign | Example |
| - | - |
| Urgent or threatening language | "Your domain will be deleted today", "Final notice" |
| A link that doesn't go to our site | Hover over the link: it shows an address that isn't `hostcloud.in` |
| A sender address that isn't ours | `hostcloud-support@gmail.com`, or a look-alike such as `host-cloud.in.co` |
| A request to pay outside the Client Area | "Pay this UPI ID", or a new bank account |
| An unexpected attachment | A ZIP file, or a document that asks you to enable macros |
| Poor spelling, or a generic greeting | "Dear valued customer" |

## Our real addresses

| What | Where |
| - | - |
| Website | `hostcloud.in` |
| Client Area and invoices | `clients.hostcloud.in` |
| Support email | `support@hostcloud.in` |
| Phone / WhatsApp | +91 9890883960 |

When in doubt, don't click links in the message. Type `clients.hostcloud.in` into your browser yourself, log in, and check **Billing → My Invoices** and your tickets. If something's really due, you'll see it there.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Clicked a link and entered your password? Change your Client Area password straight away (account menu → **Change Password**), turn on [two-factor authentication](/account/two-factor-authentication.md), and [open a ticket](/support/open-a-ticket.md) so we can check your account.

## Report it

Forward the suspicious message to us in a ticket, choosing **Abuse**, so we can warn other customers. See [Report abuse, spam or phishing](/support/report-abuse.md).

Still stuck? [Open a ticket](/support/open-a-ticket.md) and we'll confirm whether a message is genuine.
