# Check disk and resource usage

> See how much storage, bandwidth, CPU and memory your hosting account is using in cPanel.

Your hosting plan includes set amounts of storage and server resources. This guide shows you where to see your usage, and what to do if you reach a limit.

## See a summary

[Log in to cPanel](/cpanel/log-in-to-cpanel.md). The **Statistics** panel on the home page shows your usage and limits, including:

| Item | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Disk Usage** | Storage used by your files, email and databases |
| **Bandwidth** | Data sent to visitors this month |
| **CPU Usage** | Processing power your sites are using right now |
| **Physical Memory Usage** | Memory your sites are using right now |
| **Entry Processes** | Visitors or scripts being handled at the same moment |
| **Number Of Processes** | Programs running for your account |
| **IOPS** and **I/O Usage** | How much reading from and writing to disk your sites are doing |

It also shows how many email accounts, databases, domains and subdomains you have, compared with your plan's limits.

## Find what's using disk space

**1. Open Disk Usage**

Type **Disk Usage** in the **Search Tools** box and open it. You'll see how much space each folder uses.

**2. Check email**

Email is often the biggest user of space. Open **Email Disk Usage** to see which mailboxes are largest and delete old messages.

Common space-savers: old backup files in your home folder, large email attachments, and unused WordPress themes, plugins or test sites.

## Check if your site hit a limit

Open **Resource Usage**. It shows whether your account has reached its CPU, memory or process limits recently. A site that hits its limits may load slowly or show errors such as **503 Service Unavailable** or **508 Resource Limit Is Reached**.

If you hit limits often:

* Add a caching plugin to WordPress, and remove plugins you don't use.
* Spread cron jobs out and run them less often. See [Set up cron jobs](/cpanel/set-up-cron-jobs.md).
* Block bad bots and spam traffic.
* [Upgrade your plan](/billing/upgrade-downgrade.md) if your site has simply grown.

Still stuck? [Open a ticket](/support/open-a-ticket.md) with your domain name and when the problem happens.
