# Request a free website migration

> Move your websites, files, databases and email from another host to HostCloud for free.

Moving from another host? We'll move your websites to HostCloud for free. This guide shows you what we need and how to ask.

## What's included

| | |
| - | - |
| Price | Free |
| Number of websites | Unlimited |
| Supported | Moves from another host that uses cPanel |
| Not on cPanel? | [Open a Sales ticket](/support/open-a-ticket.md) and we'll tell you what's possible |

## Before you start

* **Order your HostCloud hosting first.** We need an account to move your sites into.
* **Keep your old hosting active** until the move is finished and you've checked everything works. Don't cancel it yet.

## Request your migration

**1. Get your old host's details**

Send us **one** of these:

* **Your old cPanel login:** the cPanel address, username and password from your current host. We'll copy everything for you.
* **A full cPanel backup file:** download it from your current host's cPanel, using **Backup** or **Backup Wizard**.

**2. Open a ticket**

In the Client Area, go to **Support → Open Ticket** and choose **Technical Support**. Include:

* The domain names you want moved
* Your old cPanel login, or a link to download your backup file
* Anything special we should know, such as a site that must not go offline at a certain time

**3. We move your sites**

We copy your website files, databases and email accounts, and update you in the ticket.

**4. Check, then point your domain**

When we tell you the move is done, check your site and email. Then point your domain to HostCloud. See [Point your domain to HostCloud](/dns/point-domain-to-hostcloud.md).

> [!WARNING]
>
> After the migration is finished, change your password at your old host. You shared it with us so we could copy your data, and it's good practice to change any password you've sent in a ticket.

> [!TIP]
>
> Plan the switch for a quiet time for your business. Once you change your nameservers, some visitors may see the old host for up to 24 hours while the change spreads. See [How long DNS changes take to work](/dns/dns-propagation.md).

Still stuck? [Open a ticket](/support/open-a-ticket.md) and tell us where your website is hosted now.
