# Install WordPress

> Get a WordPress website running on your HostCloud hosting in a few minutes.

WordPress is the most popular way to build a website. This guide shows you how to get it running on HostCloud, whichever plan you have.

## Managed WordPress plan?

WordPress comes **preinstalled** on HostCloud's Managed WordPress plans. You don't need to install it. Your welcome email has your login details. See [Find your welcome email and service details](/getting-started/welcome-email-and-service-details.md).

## Install WordPress on other hosting plans

You can install WordPress from cPanel with either of two tools. Use whichever you prefer: both install WordPress for you in a few clicks.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Point your domain to HostCloud first, so your new site opens at your own address. See [Point your domain to HostCloud](/dns/point-domain-to-hostcloud.md).

**WordPress Manager by Softaculous**

**1. Open the installer**

[Log in to cPanel](/cpanel/log-in-to-cpanel.md) and click **WordPress Manager by Softaculous** in the left-hand menu.

**2. Start a new install**

Choose to install WordPress.

**3. Fill in the details**

* **Domain:** choose the domain for the site. Pick `https://` so the site uses your free SSL certificate.
* **Directory:** leave this empty to install WordPress at your main address, such as `yourdomain.com`.
* **Site name and description:** you can change these later.
* **Admin username, password and email:** choose a username that isn't "admin", a strong password, and an email address you check.

**4. Install**

Start the installation. When it's done, you'll see the links to your site and its admin dashboard.

**WordPress Management**

**1. Open WordPress Management**

[Log in to cPanel](/cpanel/log-in-to-cpanel.md) and click **WordPress Management** in the left-hand menu.

**2. Start a new install**

Choose to install WordPress.

**3. Fill in the details**

Choose the domain, leave the folder empty to use your main address, and set a site title, admin username, strong password and email address.

**4. Install**

Start the installation. When it's done, you can open your site and its admin dashboard from the same page.

## Log in to your new site

Go to `https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin` and log in with the admin username and password you chose.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Your WordPress admin login controls your whole site. Use a strong password, and keep WordPress, your theme and your plugins up to date. Most hacked WordPress sites run old plugins.

> [!TIP]
>
> Moving an existing WordPress site from another host? You don't need to reinstall it. We'll move it for free. See [Request a free website migration](/support/request-a-free-migration.md).
