Find your exact settings in cPanel
cPanel shows the settings for each email account, and can set up some apps for you automatically.1
Open Email Accounts
Log in to cPanel, type Email Accounts in the Search Tools box at the top, and open it.
2
Open the mail client settings
Next to the email account, click Connect Devices. The Set Up Mail Client page opens.
3
Use automatic setup, or copy the settings
- Mail Client Automatic Configuration Scripts: download a setup file for your app. Available for iOS and macOS Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, KDE Kmail, Mail for Windows 10, Microsoft Outlook 2007 and 2010 for Windows, and Windows Live Mail. For iPhone and Mac, choose IMAP over SSL/TLS.
- Mail Client Manual Settings: copy the values from the Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended) box. They match the table below.
- Email Instructions: enter an email address and click Send to email these settings to yourself or a colleague.
Secure SSL/TLS settings (recommended)
Non-SSL settings (not recommended)
cPanel also lists settings without SSL/TLS. Use them only if your app can’t connect with the secure settings, because your password and emails are not encrypted. In some apps, outgoing authentication is a separate setting, such as “My outgoing server requires authentication”. Turn it on, or your app won’t be able to send email.
IMAP or POP3?
Choose IMAP unless you have a reason to use POP3.
